About Your Visit
Do you need a prescription? NO. Maryland is a ‘Direct Access’ state, meaning you can be evaluated and treated by a Physical Therapist without seeing a physician. Many of our clients are seen without a physician’s prescription. However, some insurance plans require a physician’s prescription in order to provide coverage for our services.Insurance benefits: We are in-network for most Carefirst BlueCross BlueShield plans, and Medicare. While we are out of network for all other plans, often these plans provide a large percentage of coverage.
For your convenience, we will contact your insurance company to determine what your plan requires, as well as verify your benefits. The information we obtain will be discussed with you prior to your first visit. If your insurance company requires you to have a physician's prescription, we will inform you of this as well as discuss your benefits prior to your first visit.
Your initial evaluation:Your Physical Therapist will perform a thorough assessment of your posture, joint motion, muscular strengths/weaknesses (muscle imbalances), among other areas specific to your case. You and your PT will discuss and determine your goals. You will be educated on your diagnosis and receive a specific treatment approach including manual therapy techniques, personalized therapeutic excercise program, self-care education, and a home exercise routine.
Follow-up visits:Visits after your evaluation will be a continuation of the plan of care that you and your physical therapist discussed at your first visit. We will periodically re-assess your progress and update your rehab program appropriately.
Your recovery begins the very first visit.
