About Your Visit
Do you need a prescription? NO. Maryland is a ‘Direct Access’ state, meaning you can be evaluated and treated by a Physical Therapist without seeing a physician. Many of our clients are seen without a physician’s prescription. However, some insurance plans require a physician’s prescription in order to provide coverage for our services. For your convenience, we will contact your insurance company to determine what your plan requires, as well as verify your benefits. If your insurance company requires you to have a physician’s prescription, we will inform you of this as well as discuss your benefits, prior to your first visit.
Your initial evaluation: Your Physical Therapist will perform a thorough assessment of your posture, joint motion, muscular strengths/weaknesses (muscle imbalances), among other areas specific to your case. You and your PT will discuss and determine your goals. You will be educated on your diagnosis and receive a specific treatment approach including manual therapy techniques, personalized therapeutic excercise program, self-care education, and a home exercise routine.
